Food & Nutrition Resources

People that need help in finding food have several options available to them. Local charities, government agencies, and non-profit organizations like ours are committed to helping low-income families find a low cost or a free meal program.

USDA

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers several programs on how to get food. The USDA offers a free consumer guide that highlights programs where immigrants can get food help. Some of these programs require proof of citizenship while others do not.

The USDA has a National Hunger Hotline you can call if you need food immediately, 1-866-348-6479 (1-866-3-HUNGRY). The hotline still will help you find food nearest to your location. It’s a free call. The hotline is open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm EST.

Feeding America

The Feeding America network has over 200 food banks and thousands of food pantries and meal programs in all 50 states, including Puerto Rico. The food is free. You can find a food bank, meal program, or pantry near you using their food bank locator.

There may be other programs sponsored by your state or local government to help with rental assistance. You can find local state information here.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels operates in nearly every community across America through their network of more than 5,000 local programs. All these local programs are committed to supporting their community seniors with healthy nutritionist meals delivered to their homes. You can locate a Meals on Wheels provider here.
